What is the cascade process?

The cascade process began with a church-wide conference in Pitlochry at which representatives from every diocese took part. This was a process of what is often now called ‘facilitated conversation’ which enabled clergy and lay members of our church with a diversity of views on these issues to come together in open and productive discussion.

The fact that same sex marriage is now a reality in Scotland gives this process added importance. The Cascade Conversations – at Pitlochry, in our dioceses and in congregations – will contribute to decisions which our General Synod will make in 2015 and beyond.

These three Conversations will be led by those who took part in the Pitlochry Conference with the assistance of the Bishop.

We warmly invite clergy and members of our congregations to come and take part.

If you would like any more information about this, please contact Bishop David.
