Problem 2 The All Saints Choir. Solution.
Since Ann gets a total of 22 and Bethan gets 24, there must be two less
people in the choir on the second Sunday than on the first. Again since
David gets a total of 20 there must be two more on the last Sunday than
on the first. Hence the total, excluding the third Sunday, is three
times the number of people on the first Sunday. But Charles counted
this number and it is 27, so there were nine in the choir on the first
Sunday. There were then 9, 7, 4, and 11 on each of the four Sundays in November.
