Basically, we are a relatively small congregation supporting a large number of buildings. At best we are breaking even (in the good months) and at worst (over some of the winter months) spending much more money than actually receive. The net effect is more money going out than coming in over the year. We, like everyone else, have been affected by rising fuel costs and the Finance and General Purposes Committee are actively looking into means of improving the insulation and heating in the Church.
My simple message is to say thank you to all who give to All Saints Church, whether by single donation, and we have had the good fortune to receive some very generous gifts recently, or by regular contributions. As we approach the season of Lent I would ask all those who are already comfortably off, to review how much is left in the bank at the end of each month, and whether you could increase your giving to All Saints Church. Some of those who have a direct debit agreement may not have reviewed this for some time, and may be able to increase the monthly gift in line with increased income over the years.
I can provide Standing order or Direct debit forms for the bank, and if you are a taxpayer, a Gift Aid form, so we can reclaim tax on your donations. My email is jew@st-andrews.ac.uk if you would like to contact me this way.
With thanks and all good wishes
Jane Winn
