Children's church

Helping children grow in their faith

All Saints’ church believes that helping children grow in their faith is important. We also believe that the whole church, young and old, should have the opportunity to worship together.

Since the lifting of covid restrictions, the children attending regularly have preferred to stay in church for the whole liturgy and separate activities have therefore not been provided for some months. If you would like to attend and have children who might prefer to have separate activities for part of the service, please contact us in advance to discuss arrangements.

The room where children’s church normally takes place is located between the church and the main hall and can be used by those with children during the service if so desired.

Everyone together

Children begin the worship service, in the church building with their families or guardians.

After the collect (a short prayer), children are invited to join the children’s church.

Teaching and prayer

Children’s church consists of:

  • a teaching,
  • a time of prayer, and
  • a fun activity related to the teaching.

The lessons the children receive correspond to the church’s liturgical calendar.

Each Sunday, children’s church is supervised by an adult subject to appropriate checks by Disclosure Scotland. Visiting children are most welcome to join in, or stay in the service with their parents or guardians.

Returning to the service

The children return to the service before the celebration of the Eucharist (communion) and participate in the rest of the service with their family or care givers.
