All Saints’ has always had a strong musical life. Our small and friendly SATB choir continues to lead the worship in the high Anglican choral tradition at the 10am Eucharist every Sunday, at our monthly service of Evensong & Benediction and at other major festivals such as Christmas, Easter, All Saints’ and All Souls. We always welcome new recruits at any point in the year, and if you are interested in joining us the Director of Music, Andrew Macintosh, would be delighted to speak with you.

We offer choral scholarships for University students. These are currently worth £300 each per academic year. Application is by audition at the start of semester 1 in September. One scholarship is available in each voice part (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). Scholarship holders commit to attending all meetings of the choir (including rehearsals on Thursday evenings, 6pm–7pm) during the University semester.

Scholarship holders should have at least some experience of choral singing within a small choir, and should be competent sight readers. The audition consists of a prepared audition piece, sight-reading and hymn-singing, as well as a short discussion about your experience. Scholarships will be allocated by audition at the start of semester 1, but enquiries from singers are encouraged at any time.

The organ dates from 1923, when the church building was completed. It is a 2 manual and pedal instrument by Hill, Norman and Beard, in a case by Nathaniel Hitch. The instrument is regularly maintained and is still in original condition. It was awarded a Historic Organ Certificate by the British Institute of Organ Studies in 2011.
